In addition to making a donation, there are many other ways you can contribute to CASES.
Join a Community Advisory Board
CASES provides opportunities for our youth program participants to make a positive contribution to their communities, helping them to begin to shift from a perception of themselves as “criminals” to “community leaders.” Young people in many CASES programs—including Brooklyn and Queens Justice Corps, Coney Island Training and Education, the Court Employment Project, and Harlem Plus—work to identify challenges in their communities and develop and implement responsive community benefit projects.
To help our youth identify community needs and make connections with appropriate service sites, CASES enlists the help of Community Advisory Boards (CABs). CABs are comprised of volunteers from the community, including leaders in local businesses, schools, and faith-based organizations. Members of a CAB work closely with CASES youth program participants, helping them to assess and identify community needs and develop and undertake effective improvement projects. This can be a powerful experience for both the young people and CAB members as they collaborate to strengthen their shared community.
Speak on a Career Panel
CASES’ Intellectual and Career Development Unit holds regular career fairs for participants that include panels featuring employees from a wide variety of businesses and organizations who work at a variety of levels to provide perspective on specific industries/sectors, employment expectations (both for the employee and employer), and potential career pathways.
Mentor a CASES Participant
CASES provides mentoring services for youth program participants, including for young people residing in Bedford-Stuyvesant and Bushwick who are at a high risk of becoming involved in crime as well as for graduates of our youth programs who have gone on to college or other postsecondary opportunities and would benefit from working with an early- or mid-career professional serving as a career mentor.
CASES is always looking for volunteers! If you are interested in donating your time to help us achieve our vision of a fairer, healthier, and safer New York City, please complete the form below.
