This past Sunday, Patricia Haversham-Brown, CASES Senior Director of Intensive Mobile Treatment (IMT), was recognized at the Manhattan Borough President’s State of the Borough Address for her extraordinary work as a woman activist and community leader in behavioral health.
IMT is a program that delivers comprehensive mental health and substance use treatment services to New Yorkers with complex mental health needs, unstable housing, and involvement in the criminal legal system directly in their communities. As the Senior Director of IMT, Patricia is a highly skilled and experienced administrative social worker in the field of behavioral health care. She ensures that CASES IMT clients receive quality treatment, and that staff are properly trained in service delivery. Patricia also maintains critical relationships with behavioral health treatment service providers, referral sources, shelters, hospitals, jails, courts, and other community resources.
Outside of IMT, Patricia has an extensive background in behavioral health treatment work and advocacy. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Fortune Society, a nonprofit providing reentry services for people impacted by the criminal legal system. She also previously served as the Senior Director at the Castle, a transitional residence in Riverside and as the Senior Director at Harlem United, a treatment provider advancing health equity in Harlem.
Patricia embodies one of CASES’ core values—empathy. She goes to great lengths to understand the experiences and perspectives of her colleagues and clients. Her work is guided by the philosophy that everybody deserves another chance.
As a fierce advocate for accessible housing, this philosophy rings true in Patricia’s beliefs: “Every person deserves a key to put into a door. A residence. I believe if everyone had housing, we might not see as many people as I see walking the streets or lying in the train station. Because they would have a place to be.”
CASES is so proud of Patricia’s passion and dedication to the growth and wellbeing of IMT clients at CASES and to the advancement of behavioral health services in NYC, and we congratulate her on being showcased at the Manhattan Borough President’s State of the Borough Address!
