Though critical in combating the spread of COVID-19, social distancing has taken a mental and emotional toll on New Yorkers across the city. Now more than ever, all of us rely on our phones and other technology to stay connected with family and friends, with coworkers, and to services such as health care.

For CASES’ clients, staying connected is essential. Throughout the pandemic, our clients have used phones and other technology not only to connect with friends and family but to access the essential services CASES provides, including telemental health for clients of our Nathaniel Clinic [2] and help attaining basic necessities like food and clothing for individuals just released from Rikers Island. [3] Many of our staff are now almost wholly reliant on technology to make sure clients have access to the housing, medication, food, and other services they need to thrive in the community, as well as to engage them in employment programming to make sure those without jobs have a head start once the economy opens back up again.

That’s why today we’re launching the Staying Connected Fund, a campaign to raise money to make sure our clients have access to the support they need during the COVID-19 crisis and that our staff are equipped to do their job safely and effectively. By donating, you’re making sure that CASES’ clients and staff have the tools they need not only to stay safe and healthy, but to be set up for success in the future when the City reopens.
