Hundreds Rally at City Hall in Support of Increased Funding for Alternative to Incarceration & Reentry Programs
Members of the New York Alternative to Incarceration (ATI)/Reentry Coalition joined New York City Council members May 8th on the steps of New York City Hall in a rally to urge City, State and Federal leaders to increase funding and save ATI programs across New York State. Participants voiced support for ATI and reentry programs, which play a vital role in the City’s efforts to reduce crime and improve outcomes for youth and adults involved in the criminal justice system.
Speakers at the event included Council members Ydanis Rodríguez, Danny Dromm, Letitia James, Peter Vallone, Elizabeth Crowley and Jimmy Van Bramer. CASES’ CEO Joel Copperman, Director of the Office of Alternative Sentencing of Queens Doug Knight and Fortune Society’s Vice President of Development and Public Affairs Glenn Martin also spoke, along with participants from CASES and the Fortune Society.
