On July 25, several high-level officials involved in the Ethiopian justice system, including the Minister of Justice His Excellency Ato Berhan Haylu, met with CASES’ staff as part of a two-week learning program entitled “Justice for All” sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The exchange program allowed members of the Ethiopian delegation to meet with different U.S. organizations involved in the justice system including the FBI, the New York City Police Department and representatives from the John Jay School of Criminal Justice. The overall goal of the trip was to gain insight and ideas to support USAID’s capacity to strengthen the Ethiopian justice system. CASES staff presented an overview of our programs and our organizational structure as well as our larger role in the criminal justice system of New York City.
