In May 2003, CASES began operating under a service contract
award, the New York City Transit (NYCT) Community Service Program through which persons committing minor crimes within the NYCT system are sentenced to community service under the supervision of NYCT Community Service Unit.

The Program operates in the Criminal Court and Family Court in
Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx as well as in the Midtown Community Court. In partnership with NYCT, CASES provides in-court screening, assessment, and intake of eligible participants - yearly several thousand participants perform community service work at NYCT worksites and/or provide monetary restitution to NYCT.
