Many of CASES' programs have received awards for their innovation, success at serving the needs of participants, and dedication to helping participants lead law-abiding lives.

The 2005 Harp Commitment Award from the Howie T. Harp Peer Specialist Training Center--where participants are trained to provide self help skills, resource information and advocacy for their peers--was awarded to CASES by Chrystal Woodson, a Howie T. Harp graduate and Peer Specialist with the Nathaniel Project.

In November 2001, CASES received a Partnership Award from the City Department of Juvenile Justice in recognition of CASES' excellent collaborative initiatives and programs in support of the Department's mission.

In November 2000, CASES won a National Council on Crime and Delinquency New American Community Award in recognition of CASES’ success in serving youth and its commitment to protecting youth against involvement in crime.

The Nathaniel Project, an alternative-to-incarceration program serving offenders with severe and persistent mental illness has been awarded:

  • A 2002 Significant Achievement Award from the American Psychiatric Association recognizing outstanding mental health programs.

  • The 2002 American Probation and Parole Association’s President’s Award, recognizing programs that serve to advance the knowledge, effectiveness, and integrity of the community corrections system.

  • The Third Annual Thomas M. Wernert Award for Innovation in Community Behavioral Healthcare, recognizing behavioral health service programs that demonstrate innovation and creativity while ensuring community and consumer participation.

The Career Exploration Project, a program within our Court Employment Project that exposes participants to employment skills training and internships has been awarded:

  • The 2003 Promising and Effective Practices Network (PEPNet) award, recognizing Career Exploration as a national promising practice.

  • The 2001 Juvenile Court Centennial Initiative Award, recognizing the Career Exploration Project as an exemplary model and innovative approach to serving court-involved youth.

  • The 2000 National Council on Crime and Delinquency's New American Community Award, recognizing New American community leaders and organizations effectively working to reduce crime in their communities.

  • The 1999 Promising and Effective Practices Network (PEPNet) award, recognizing Career Exploration as a national promising practice.

  • The 1999 New York City Department of Juvenile Justice's Partnership Award. in recognition of excellent collaborative initiatives and programs in support of The Department's mission.

The Youth Employment Project, a program within our Court Employment Project that teaches participants basic employment and entrepreneurial skills while managing their own greeting card company, Shout-Out Productions, was awarded:

  • First prize in the Fleet Youth Entrepreneur Competition held by the Citizens Committee of New York City in recognition of Shout-Out Productions.
